Tasting Notes
This refreshing off-dry wine is modeled after the food-friendly Rieslings from Germany. Intense aromas of peach, pineapple, and honeysuckle are an enticing introduction to a mouthful of ripe, juicy stone fruit, and opulent flavors. The crisp acidity is a wonderful counterbalance to the sweet fruit, providing a long, mouthwatering finish.
Winery Story
The largest winery in Oregon, Willamette Valley Vineyards (WVV) also owns the Griffin Creek and Tualatin Vineyards labels. WVV and Tualatin Vineyards grow and source their grapes from the best sites throughout Oregon and specialize in crafting wines exclusively from Burgundian and Alsatian varietals (such as Riesling). Griffin Creek, on the other hand, is located in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley and focuses on using varietals native to the Bordeaux and Rhône regions.
Founder/President Jim Bernau (a native Oregonian) is dedicated to producing high-quality wines using the most sustainable viticultural practices available. As testament to their commitment to the environment, the Estate Vineyards at WVV are certified Salmon Safe and LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology). LIVE is a non-profit organization that provides certification for vineyards and wineries in Oregon that practice sustainable agriculture and winemaking techniques.
Jim’s philosophy is that “great wines begin in the vineyard”; then, the goal is for the winemaker to create wines that contain the following three qualities: power, balance, and elegance. You’ll find that goal is achieved when you taste what is in the glass.
