Tasting Notes
Like a perfume atomizer, this white spritzes fresh melon right over the glass rim. What many would call Alsatian in character (meaning leaner with very little sweetness), Keller's Pinot Gris is grainy with minerals to prop up the aromatic fruits. Sprightly, with crisp lemon and rind, this wine is a natural with food.
Winery Story
Keller Estate Winery and Vineyards, owned by the Keller family, is nestled in the Sonoma Coast, Northwest of the Carneros region on Lakeville Highway east of Petaluma not far from the edge of the county. They are the southernmost winery in the Sonoma Coast appellation and the first to establish itself in the Petaluma Valley.
The Estate is comprised of a large acreage of rangeland, olive groves, gardens, and vineyards. The Petaluma River runs no more than a stone's throw from the western border of the property, which rises from sea level to over 500 feet in elevation through a spectacular series of hills. Views from the property are magnificent, including San Francisco's skyline.
Winemaker Michael McNeill takes his cues from the vineyard and believes that all of the wine's potential comes from the vineyard. To that end, Michael works closely with Vineyard Manager Eric Neil to fine tune the vineyard practices in order to grow the best fruit possible. Keller Estates combines this top duo with the father and daughter owners, Arturo and Ana, to create a caring team.
