Demesio Vineyards

Tasting Notes

Blueberry is one of the most dramatic berry tones found in Cabernet Sauvignon, and hard to find. Demesio Vineyards captures this elusive aroma and tops it with cedar, anise, cocoa, sweet pipe tobacco, flowers, and orange zest-all the good stuff. Well balanced throughout, it finishes with more tart berry and tea leaf. With deceivingly smooth tannins, this red can age; drink now through 2014.

Winery Story

Demesio Vineyards 2004 Napa Valley Red Wine is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Made from a blend of grapes from the subregions of Rutherford and Oakville, the red was fermented in both stainless steel and French oak barrels. The resulting wine was then aged in new and old barrels; having both options available controlled the oak influence in the finished wine.

Demesio winery uses a gravity-feed system, which dodges the need to pump the wine during production. This is important because the violent suction used in a pump system can break apart fragile phenolics-organic compounds that provide the sensuous aromas and complex mouthfeel required for fine wine. When these compounds are broken apart by sharp handling, the sought after characteristics can be lost in the finished wine. Demesio Vineyards strongly believe their gravity-feed system results in a better wine. Taste-and you'll likely agree.
