Tasting Notes
The green family of fruits aptly applies to this fresh linen of a Chardonnay. Pear, green apple, quince, and lime whirl together in the nose, supported with light yeasty oak notes. A flinty, concrete-like tang joins in, giving the wine body and texture. No buttery flavor here, this style has more saucy verve and fits better with food. Drink now.
Winery Story
Chinook Winery is located in Prosser, Washington. Original farm buildings house the winery, barrel storage, and tasting room, with a shaded lawn that serves as a picnic spot. Bounded by a Cabernet Franc vineyard and apple and cherry orchards, the winery is a favorite stop on the Yakima Wine Trail.
Chinook's selectively marketed, handmade wines are staples of Washington's finest wine retailers and restaurants. In 1983, it all began with the partnership of Kay Simon and Clay Mackey, both pioneers in the early growth of the Washington State wine industry. Kay's winemaking and Clay's viticultural training made for a perfect marriage.
Together they built a winery that reflects the finest attributes of Washington State wines-hands-on winemaking and attention to detail. From the beginning, Kay and Clay joked that one of them should have married rich, but they are happy with being rich in a winning partnership.
