Mother Nature....
Mother Nature is in control of how our gardens grow...if it is too warm, we need to water more, too much rain and there isn't much we can do about it. All of the other things we get from the weather conditions we deal with...slugs, bugs of all types., hail, cold, etc. So many areas with draught and fires, hopefully their gardens will return...I consider Wisconsin very fortunate even with our storms compared to the other areas. Trees can be replanted but when you see such large trees destroyed and then you start thinking about how long it took for them to get that size. You think of Mother Nature and her fury.
When our weather gets cold and chilly and we know that fall is coming, I always feel bad. Our gardening season in Wisconsin seems so short and tonight they told us to cover the plants we want because we are having a frost . I have quite a few containers on my patio for that extra shot of color when everything else ends its color or blooming time.
It just seems like all of your work and the time you spend in your garden is about to end and you can start planning for next season. I do have plants to cut down and clean up in the flower beds so the tulips and daffodils will look nice in the spring when they come up. Something to look forward too...seeing the tulip heads poking through the snow at times...you know spring is coming. It just warms your heart and gets you through the days when you are thinking of being outside in the garden once again.
We have all winter to think of what we would like to accomplish in our garden next year....changes we want to make....what new plants we would like to try.....and just dreaming of what we want our garden to look like. Of course you can't control how your plants will grow...that is up to Mother Nature. I guess you could say we hope for the best in our gardens.
The joy of all the beauty you created and the taste of the first produce from your garden makes everything seem so much better. How easily we forget about other years when the weather warms. Ready to deal with anything Mother Nature wants to hand out. Hoping Mother Nature won't hand out more than we can deal with.....
