BetterRecipes : better recipes - better meals

I miss the original Mixing Bowl!!!

I'm not quite sure how to resume the old Mixing Bowl comraderie (sp?).    I don't recognize most of the top cooks and journal entries in this new site and I don't have nearly as many groups as I used to.  I can't access my recipe box - I click on it and nothing happens. I am rejected by my 2 'Mixing Bowl friends' - I could have sworn I had a few more than that with Mixing Bowl.   I am subscribed to many other recipe groups and I enjoy all but I really miss the 'close-knit family environment' that Mixing Bowl had to offer on a daily basis. I didn't ever blog except for Mixing Bowl -  I didn't always respond to the journal blogs but when I did, it seemed like I knew everyone and they were like family.  It's not that I don't know how to enter a new recipe on this site but I miss the old friendships.  I would like to start new friendships with this site, but where are my Mixing Bowl friends?  Am I missing something - I'm not as computer savvy as a lot of other Mixers (I'm old school).   Please help!!

I also miss the original Mixing Bowl.  I can't seem to navigate Better Recipes with the same ease, I miss the questions, dialogue between members, the daily emails, etc.  I rarely go to Better Recipes any more. It never seems to change.  I found this link by googling "missing Mixing Bowl".   Best wishes to all of you!

Lee! It's great to "see" you again!

We're hoping our tech team can get something in place soon that will allow us to see what our friends have been up to on the site. In the meantime, click the "Discussions" tab and once you're there you can choose to see recent and popular discussions.

I believe all of  us 'old Mixing Bowlers' miss the old Mixing Bowl.   I really do miss seeing what everyone was posting and commenting on.  sometime the comments went as far as suggestions and how someone made changes to a recipe.

I guess it was very good while it lasted frown

    Hi there Magzie!

I think the games are easy to find because there is a lot of activity there right now.

There seems to be a few of you who are looking for a place to connect. What groups were you visiting? We could all follow you over to the group you're familiar with and chat, or why don't you start a new group and we'll join you there. smiley

Hi Rednil,  I am an "old" mixing bowler too.  I joined in June 2009 and enjoyed this site so much for both the recipes and as you mentioned the commaraderie.  I'm not really into all the games they offer here.  I just want to read new recipes and catch up with old friends.  It really takes so much time to search this site whereas before I had a list of what new recipes my friends has put on and could see them and what others were saying about the recipes.  Since there are so many other sites I feel like this one has lost the one thing that made it different - namely the community involved.  I'm not sure we will ever have that back.  I don't even look for recipes anymore here because I don't necessarily want a particular recipe (i.e. "search for recipe" function) but just enjoyed seeing what was new, and maybe I didn't know I wanted a recipe for a certain thing but all of a sudden, one was added and it looked really good.  This site takes so much time to find anything.  I don't believe we were "friends" on the old site but I will see what I can do about that and hopefully if I can figure out how to "friend" you I will.  Have a great day.  MagzieH

Okay, let's take a peek into your profile area and see what is there. On the upper right side of the screen you'll see links to your profile area. It's your name and below it, Recipe Box, Groups, Friends and Journals. Clicking the "groups" link will show you a listing of all your groups, clicking the "friends" link will show you all your friends and so on.

Tell me what happens when you click on your recipe box. Let's get to the bottom of this for you!

Hello Leslie! It's great to know that you're here with us.

The best suggestion I can give you is to just dive into the site. Start discussions, join groups, add recipes and the more you move around the site, the easier it gets.

You can find current discussions by clicking the Discussions tab and by scrolling through the Journal entries.

Hello rednil,  I don't know if you will recognize me but I was on the old mixing bowl.  I was similar to you.  I didn't respond alot but loved to read the entries and watch the recipes and what was going on.  I will send you a friend request also, but wanted to answer here so you would for sure see it.  I'm taking my time and getting to know the site.  Writing in a little more then I use to, trying to get others to respond.  So far my groups haven't had alot of activities but I have joined in on the conversation tabs a little also and have had some response.  It takes time, but it will start to seem like the old mixing bowl eventually.  Remember that was new to us all once, too.  Meanwhile, dig in and enter a few recipes.  Let me know what groups you belong to and I'll look in on them.
