Gardening is so much a part of my life. Most of all it's my therapy and has seen me through many stressful situations. My motto for life is 'Every day is lovely when you're doing what you love.' I love gardening and hope that I will always be able to garden until my time on this earth comes to an end.

If you did mention your little mouse story before,  I have forgotten it.  I do not catch and release rodents,  they just come back.  Around here they are "homing rodents"  and just come right back, so they have to be done in.  Mewsy and  Shadow caught a huge fat rat yesterday.  Shadow had to kill it, as it was too big for Mewsy.   I need to dose him with some tummy medicine just to be safe, but he is out hunting again. They have not yet caught whatever is in my attic.  I need to buy mothballs this week and toss some around up there to discourage them.   I did find a dead squirrel once in my yard, he was under some lumber.  I buried him out back in my pet cemetery with my other poor dead pets.  Sometimes stray animals show up dead in my yard?  I guess they know I will be nice to them, but I do not find them in time.  That is how I have gotten many pets over the years. People just dump them off here.  They assume that anyone who lives in the country is 'rich' enough to take on someone else's unwanted pets by the dozens..

  • Sherry, this one's for you

Karlinann....I don't know what type of soil MI has....Here is Wisconsin we have different types depending where you live. When I lived here on the other side of Neenah we had clay at our first home and we had black dirt brought in to go on top of it. Then we moved to New London and we had sandy soil. I noticed when we dug out for planting some trees we have clay here too with black dirt brought in on-top again. When we order a load of dirt we always get black  dirt with amendments added.....Sherry8

Hi Nightowl...I love my bleeding hearts too...they are so dainty and fragile looking. I lost some from the frost but I think they should come back next spring...those in the picture are right next to the house. Small baby sprouts pop up all over the flower beds.

I have never seen the bleeding hearts like you mentioned but I will look around the nursery when I go and see if they have any.

Years ago when I was first married we didn't have a dishwasher either but once you get one you get spoiled. I know my dishes would sit in the sink after a big meal soaking until the next morning....I really didn't have a good spot to stack them besides in the sink...Sherry8
