Gardening is so much a part of my life. Most of all it's my therapy and has seen me through many stressful situations. My motto for life is 'Every day is lovely when you're doing what you love.' I love gardening and hope that I will always be able to garden until my time on this earth comes to an end.

  • Hawk

I've never seen that many robins at one time either.  That must have been a wonderful site.  And the hawk - wow!  You have a great view of nature in your own yard.

Yesterday was 'Off The Chain' busy at work, but I got through it.  Hopefully today will run smoothly and then I get one day off.  Woo hoo!

Not much happening here until tomorrow.  After I buy my pitchfork I'll turn my compost pile.  I've decided to put in some raspberry bushes so I'll go to Lowe's and see what they have.  I also want to get a Scuppernong Grapevine.  They are good to eat in the fall and I can use the trimmings to make wreaths when they get established.  I've grown the white ones before, but I want to try the black ones this time.  They are mighty fine.  Does anyone else know what I'm talkin' about?

I spread my first bunch of compost from my big compost pile yesterday.  I put some around my newly planted rose bush and watered it in really good.  That thing is going to grow like crazy.

My compost pile was started last summer and has not been turned once.  I have to buy a pitchfork I suppose.  It has bags and bags of coffee grinds and tons of leaves and pinestraw on it.  Mostly leaves.  I really do need to turn it.  The stuff I took out yesterday was from the bottom and it looked so dark and rich and organic.

Saturday is shopping day and I will buy a pitchfork.  Ole!  Oh, btw, Nightowl that was Sherry who was commenting to you about the boots, but I have been looking for boots as well.  I will probably end up getting mine at Walmart.  I don't like wearing tennis shoes because if you water the garden your shoes end up getting wet and after a rainfall they get caked with mud.  Boots would be a bonus because you can spray them off before going in and they would be ready to go the next time you garden.

I actually got a light sunburn on the back of my neck yesterday.  Wow!

  • FEB05

Hey you guys, I just noticed that I put the wrong date on my discussion heading for today.  Wow!  Sorry about that.  Today really is the 15th of February and not Feb05.  My bad.

Beautiful day outside here.  I did some garden cleanup and cooked a bunch of food and now I think I'll take a nice walk.  I am so happy to see the sun.
