Green beans: Perk up with thyme or a pinch of garlic salt.


Corn: Flavor corn with chili powder and garnish with green-pepper rings.


Tossed salad: Add curry powder to an oil-vinegar dressing.


Mashed potatoes: Sprinkle in dill seed as you mash or season with rosemary as they cook.


Beets: Sprinkle in tarragon while cooking. Use tarragon vinegar for a tart flavor.
