Asiago-Crusted Roast Lemon Asparagus

No Comments | Written on January 23, 2015 at 10:59 am , by

Lemon season is in full swing, and we can’t stop finding new ways to use the citrus. One of our new favorite preparation methods for asparagus involves the humble fruit. This recipe is not only beautiful, but tastes delicious. The asiago crust adds a wonderfully nutty flavor to the side dish, and this recipe pairs perfectly with a broiled chicken breast or roast salmon.

Feel free to modify this recipe however you’d like. The juice from a blood orange in place of the lemon is fantastic, and green beans also work well in this simple and elegant side dish. If you’d like to try another type of cheese, we like a combination of Parmesan and Romano cheese as well.

Caramelized 4-Cheese Potato Gratin

No Comments | Written on January 21, 2015 at 10:49 am , by

We love elegant recipes that look like they took hours to prepare. This caramelized four-cheese gratin makes a wonderful side dish for dinner parties, and you can mix up the base recipe however you please! We even love to use fresh turnips and parsnips in place of potatoes. Any melting cheeses work well here, and will yield one creamy and cheesy casserole.

This simple layered potato casserole makes a wonderful make-ahead side dish during the winter, because all you have to do when you get home is pop it in the oven. The inviting aromas of the melting cheeses and softened potatoes will fill your house, and you’ll relax into the evening.

By folding in fresh blueberries, a hint of orange zest, and garnishing with a simple chocolate ganache recipe, this light cake recipe is transformed into something truly gourmet. Plus, this cake freezes very well, which means you can whip it up early in the week and prepare the ganache a few hours before serving!

Crockpot Italian Turkey Meatballs From Scratch

No Comments | Written on January 12, 2015 at 3:13 pm , by

You say meatball, we say too heavy. That’s why we put a spin on the traditional Italian recipe and lightened it up at the same time. Don’t think you lose that from-scratch flavor, either! Plus, you can prepare this recipe in the crockpot, which makes this a perfect time-saving recipe.

If you prefer the taste of a homemade sauce, by all means use it in place of what we recommend! However, we find that the homemade meatball is really what gives it that grandma’s kitchen flavor.
