Mardi Gras is coming to a close and that means Fat Tuesday is coming up quick! So before most of us choose to give up sweets for Lent, let us indulge in some delicious deep-fried goodness. Let us all enjoy these traditional Polish Paczki!

Some ay think that paczki are the same as doughnuts, and those people are completely wrong. They are so much more than that!

Paczki are a traditional Polish pastry that is typically filled with some sort of jam and then deep-fried in lard. So, sure, they are like doughnuts in some way, but they are way more delicious and way more indulgent than any doughnut that we’ve ever had.

These homemade Polish Paczki don’t have any sort of jam listed in the ingredients, but that is only because we wanted to leave that decision up to you. Typically a raspberry jam would be used, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Use whatever jam you like and cater this recipe to yourself.
