This part of grocery shopping definitely takes the longest, at least it does for us. In order to save you the trouble of spending even more time in the grocery store, we’re just going to guide you through the ins-and-outs of all the sweet and savory junk foods.

This guide will not only show you how you could make all of those boxed snacks right in your own kitchen, but will show you how you could combine some stuff in your kitchen to make some snacks that are going to keep you satisfied for days to come

To start you off, we’re going to head right into the savory stuff. We’re starting off with the savory for a few reasons, but that’s not important. What is important is that we guide you through all the best snacks you could have right now.

Savory Servings

Beef Jerky

This is one of those last-minute snacks that most people grab while they’re waiting in line, but there’s a little more to it than that. Beef jerky is probably one of the easiest snacks to make at home, and one of the most delicious ones too.

We have a recipe for a delicious beef jerky that tastes just as good as any jerky you could buy in the store, maybe even a little better. Check it out, and let us know if we’re exaggerating on the flavor.

Zesty Cheddar Popcorn

Is there any other junk food that’s more iconic than popcorn? We really don’t think so, and especially when it’s powdered in cheddar. Don’t get us wrong, we love the regular popcorn that’s just drenched in butter, but sometimes we like a little bit of change.

There’s a few reasons why we love cheesy popcorn. For one, it’s covered in cheese, and could you ever really go wrong with that? Second, it’s still pretty buttery and salty. And finally, it’s just popcorn, and who doesn’t love popcorn.

Get out of that chip aisle and head into your kitchen!

Fried Mozzarella Sticks

The frozen food aisle usually gets a pretty bad reputation, but we honestly think that people are being to harsh on those foods. There are some really good things to try inside of those freezers, like a box full of remade mozzarella sticks!

Mozzarella sticks are one of the best appetizers. We honestly love to try them at every single bar or restaurant we go to, especially that very popular chain restaurant that is open seven days a week, even if it’s named after the one.

Sorry, we rambled a bit, let’s get back to the food. Mozzarella sticks could be a little labor intensive when making them at home, and that is one of the reasons why mozzarella sticks are our main junk food dishes.

Sweet Snacks

And now it’s time for the sweet things. The things that we all love, and the things that will always satisfy our cravings, even if the cravings were not for something sweet in the first place. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the sweet stuff.

Copycat Oreo Cookies

Is there really any other place to start? Oreo’s didn’t earn the nickname of “America’s favorite cookie” for no reason. They are honestly the one junk food that we get every single time we go to the grocery store, we actually write out the name instead of just writing, “junk food,” that’s how important they are.

Now, we understand that anything homemade is never going to taste as good the one that we buy out of the box, but these are actually pretty close. They have the crunch, they have the sweetness, and we still open these up and eat the icing before we finish up the rest of the cookie.

Nothing is going to stop us from buying these from the store, but this recipe nearly did it.

Copycat Entenmann’s Chocolate Donuts

These donuts are something that we have been buying since we were little kids. Whenever we walked into a gas station, corner store, or grocery store these donuts were one of the first things that we would want. They are just so delicious!

The outside layer of chocolate has a delicious texture to it, and the inside is so soft and moist. In our opinion, these donuts are a little better when the chocolate is a little melted, maybe it’s because the flavor starts to seep into the actual cake. Either way, these have go to be one of the most iconic junk foods for practically anyone and everyone.

Creamy Peanut Butter Cups

This is something that is near and dear to our hearts. This is the junk food that is special to us, because of the incredibly-delicious flavor. We grabbed one of these from the line every time our parents told us we could grab one thing, and looking back, that was probably not the best idea. However, we never complained.

It may take a little bit of work, but you could make some peanut butter cups right in your own kitchen. We’ve tried to do just that, and it actually came out pretty good.

Here’s the recipe we used to make them!

The Big Stuff

If you’re looking to put in a little bit of work to your junk food, then these are the ones that you need to try. You have to put together a bunch of different ingredients, but in the end, they are going to hit all those spots.

Easy Bar-Style Nachos

Nachos are one of the best inventions when it comes to food. A bunch of tortilla chips just layered in whatever type of toppings you want. This recipe specifically calls for pretty much the basics. Some ground beef, cheese, tortilla chips, jalapeños, onions, and a little bit of other ingredients.

We know, when it comes to junk food, we don’t like to put that much work into making them either, but trust us, it’s going to be worth it in the end. It has a crunch, it has spice, and it is extremely savory. We know that you’re going to love every single bite of them. They’re also really good for when you’re throwing a party.

After this, you’re not going to need another recipe for some nachos!

County Fair Style Corn Dogs

We’re heading back to the freezer section with this recipe. Corn dogs are some of our favorite dishes because of how easy they are to make, and how easy they are to eat. You get to keep one hand free with these dishes, which leaves you an extra hand to do anything else that you want.

These dogs are covered in a batter that will leave your tastebuds dancing a beautiful dance. It will take you back to those days are the country fair or the carnival. All you have to do are buy some ketchup, mustard, or whatever other dip you really love. It’s going to be perfect.

Sea Salt Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Now for something that combines the sweet and the savory. These pretzels are dipped in chocolate (which is already amazing) but the real kicker is the sea salt. It ends up making the chocolate a little sweeter and adds a little savoriness on the back end of the palate.

This simple dish will take absolutely no time at all. Just buy a pack of pretzels, melt some chocolate, and sprinkle some sea salt over the top. Quick, easy, and full of so much flavor. You’re never going to want to stop eating this one.

When it comes to junk food, there are way too many to choose from. In the end, it all comes down to personal preference. If you love the sweet stuff, then grab your favorite candy bar, cookie, or snack cake. If you love the savory things, then you could grab yourself a hot dog, slider, or something from the frozen foods section. You can’t go wrong with any sort of junk food, and that is a fact.

You could either head into the grocery store and wait in those long lines, or you could just rummage around your pantry or fridge and try making one of these recipes at home. You’re not going to regret a single bite of any of these.
