A Round-Up of the Best Trader Joe’s Sweets and Snacks

Since it opened its doors in 1967, Trader Joe’s has amassed a cult following, and it’s for good reason. The grocery store has unbeatably low prices and shopping there is, well, fun. From the employee’s uniforms of Hawaiian shirts to the kitschy signature items on the store’s shelves, Trader Joe’s is like the quirky romantic comedy heroine of grocery stores. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. Basically, it’s the antithesis of Whole Foods.

After many shopping trips and countless bites, I’ve culled together a list of TJ’s snacks and sweets that I keep going back for. Some are expected, others not so much, but they’re all worth putting in your cart.

Gone Bananas!

Aptly titled “Gone Bananas!”, Trader Joe’s frozen chocolate covered banana slices will make you go crazy in the very best way. They’re great for an end-of-the-day-pick-me-up, and at $1.99, they have quickly become a staple in my house.

Fig and Olive Crisps

For a sweet and savory snack, Trader Joe’s Fig and Olive Crisps are as good as it gets. Top with a creamy cheese (I like Brie) and sit back as all of your dreams come true. If it sounds like I am exaggerating, I am not.

Here is another recipe to try out with those figs!

Dried Mango Slices

If you’ve ever stepped foot in the nonperishable aisle at Trader Joe’s, you’d know that their selection of dried fruit and nuts is downright impressive. My favorite is the dried mango, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the options.

Sliced Prosciutto

If you’re like me and think a charcuterie plate makes for an ideal dinner, you don’t want to miss Trader Joe’s prosciutto. Sure, you can buy fancier stuff imported from Italy, but their prosciutto is one of the most affordable options I’ve seen (and it tastes great).

Here is a great recipe to make with that sliced prosciutto!

Sockeye Smoked Salmon Ends and Pieces

All of the stuff I said about Trader Joe’s prosciutto? It applies to their smoked salmon too. You’ll be hard-pressed to find the stuff at any other grocery store for under $5, and it tastes just as good as a lot of the more expensive versions. You can go the bagel and lox route, or you can stack it on a cracker with some cream cheese. Either way, it makes for a delicious salty treat.

If you love smoked salmon, then you need to check out this pizza!

Chocolate Chip Dunkers

If you’ve ever tried to dip a regular chocolate chip cookie in a glass of milk only to find that it didn’t fit, then you understand how necessary this product is. Beyond their smart design, TJ’s chocolate chip dunkers are also delicious.

Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips

Salt and vinegar chips can be found at pretty much any grocery store, but the ones you’ll find at TJ’s are a cut above the rest. The vinegar flavor is punchy and the chips have a satisfying crunch, making them a regular in my pantry.

We also have our own recipe for Salt and Vinegar chips, if you want to try making them at home afterwards!

Milk Chocolate Smashing S’mores

Out of all of the Trader Joe’s finds I’ve come to love, my favorite is the Milk Chocolate Smashing S’mores. There’s something about popping these in the microwave and watching the marshmallow ooze out that’s truly enthralling. It’s like a game, but one that ends with me eating chocolate. If you’ve got to grab one thing on this list, make it these.
