Jalapeño poppers are one of our favorite classic appetizer recipes. However, they are notorious for being calorie bombs. Sure, we could tell you to stuff the peppers with veggies, oven-fry instead of deep fry, or just not eat them all together. But that’s not what we want to do.

This recipe captures all the flavor you love from the original jalapeno popper recipe, and strips away the guilt. With a light tempura batter and a hint of cheese, these are perfect for parties. Yes, you can even enjoy these with a ranch dressing on the side!

Personally, we think these jalapen0s make a great snack for game day, and are a great accompaniment to some grilled chicken wings and iced tea. Feel free to spice up this recipe with some smoked paprika, or even use a hotter pepper to fry. If you’re really daring, you can try habanero or ghost peppers.
