The bad news…it’s Monday.

The good news…it’s also National Coffee Day!

Sometimes I just want to extend the weekend a little bit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast on Monday morning.  Today I woke up and made a classic in my family, Breakfast Twists.  They are not too sweet and perfect for dunking in your morning coffee!

These breakfast treats have a scone-like texture and can be twisted into just about any shape you like.  I like to add a little bit of cardamom to the dough for a bit of Scandinavian flair.  The drizzle glaze is simply powdered sugar combined with a bit of cooled, brewed coffee.

This recipe has been an morning tradition in my family for years.  Why not celebrate this National Coffee Day and make it a new tradition in your family!
