I have some exciting news to share… my sister is getting married!!

The big day is just two months away and, as maid of honor, I am in midst of planning showers and bachelorette parties to celebrate.  My sister has been known to have a bit of a sweet tooth and cupcakes are one of her favorite treats.  I figured these “Wedding Dress Cupcakes” would be right up her alley.

Keep reading to learn how to make this cupcake display!

Yes, that is her actual engagement ring!  She was kind enough to let me borrow it for one of the cupcake photographs.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!

To create these Wedding Dress Cupcakes, start by making a double batch of this recipe for “White Wedding Cupcakes.”  It is a moist and delicious white cupcake with a light and fluffy cream cheese frosting.  Each batch makes 24 cupcakes, so you will have about 48 to work with to create the display.

Step 1:  Lay out the cupcakes on your serving surface.  Push them as close together as possible.

Step 2:  Start frosting the cupcakes from the top of the display down.  (This way you won’t accidentally get your sleeves in the fresh frosting!)  You might need to frost some of the cupcakes a bit beyond the edges in order to fill in any holes.

Step 3:  Adorn the neckline of the cupcake wedding dress with Jordan almonds, or your favorite decorative candy.

Hint:  Frost each cupcake by swirling from the middle of the cupcake out toward the edges.  I found it makes it easier to fill in the spaces between the cupcakes in the formation.

For the decorations, it’s fun to choose candies to match the bride’s color scheme!  My sister is getting married in New Orleans so I figured purple and green might be fun to reflect Mardi Gras colors.

If you have any leftover cupcakes that don’t fit into the wedding dress shape, they can be individually decorated and served.  I picked up this gorgeous plate and “Mr. and Mrs.” antique forks at Bhldn, the store where my sister bought her wedding dress!

I am so thrilled for my sister and my soon-to-be brother-in-law!  They are at the very beginning of a long and happy life together.  Congratulations!!

P.S.  In the coming months you might see some more blogs pop up with tips and recipes for showers, bachelorette parties and receptions, so stay tuned!
