Spiked Mango Lassi
One of the things I am looking forward to in New York is exploring the restaurant scene. The options are, quite literally, endless.
Whenever I have visited in the past, my sister and I have always found a time to enjoy a meal at our favorite Indian restaurant on the Upper West Side. Everything on the menu is absolutely amazing with flavors so intricate and complicated, I wouldn’t dare try to recreate them at home. There is one, however, that I thought I could swing – a Mango Lassi.

In this version, I decided to give the mango lassi a bit of a twist and make it a spiked mango lassi! The result is everything you love about a fruit smoothie and a cocktail in one.
This, of course, is in no way authentic. It’s really just me having a bit of fun! All you have to do is combine mango, yogurt, milk, and rum in a blender. I like to add a tiny pinch of salt to tantalize the taste buds and balance the flavors. Then just blend in some ice until the lassi reaches your desired consistency.
You can play around with the garnish as well. A sprinkling of cumin seeds is an interesting choice with a savory slant. A dash of ground cardamom is delicious, as is a few sliced almonds or just a mint spring for color.
