Earlier this year, many of your favorite Hostess snack cakes were discontinued.  Classic treats like Twinkies and Ding Dongs are now back on store shelves, but wouldn’t it be fun to make your own version of these iconic snack cakes at home?

This week we are giving away all the supplies you need to make “Vanilla Creme Snack Cakes” (a.k.a. Twinkies) and “Chocolate Creme Snack Cakes” (a.k.a. Ding Dongs) in your own kitchen!

    The new company is making Twinkies and Ding Dongs smaller and smaller! I hope these tins are the old size that will hold just enough stuffin’. I am weeding out companies that continually decrease the size or amount of their product to avoid a price increase and then after several months raise the price anyway..I am also weeding out companies that keep the same size package but lessen the amount inside…I may not be able to find anything to eat after a while, but I will feel better.

    I love snack cakes but rarely buy them because they’re so processed and full of preservatives. I’d much rather bake my own and not have to worry about that. It’s always better to make your own improved version of any processed food treat.

    My family have always loved Twinkies but when you buy any kind of packaged product in the store, you never know anything about how it was made. And there are so many preservatives in them. Making them at home, you’ll know exactly what ingredients you used and that they were made for your family with much love.

    I like to make as much as I can from scratch so I can control the ingredients. My husband had a heart attack at an early age and I am at high risk for stroke at early age.     About the time that Twinkies went away is when I found a recipe for a “Twinkie” cake using of course the non-existing Twinkies, fresh fruit and whipped cream. Perfect for summer BBQ’s and hot summer night snacking. I sooo could have used a Twinkie pan and a recipe back then! And now that Twinkies are back, I can’t find the darn recipe!!!! Guess I now will be hunting on the web for the recipe!!!!

    I have 4 grandkids that love to hear stories about when I was growing up, and they love to cook with me. When I was little, a truck would come around selling Twinkies, Hostess cupcakes, and tiny loaves of bread. It was something I looked forward to. I would love making those treats with the children an remembering those happy times!!

    Even though some areas have them, my local stores don’t carry ding dongs all the time. My best friend used to share hers with me everyday at lunch. Whenever I have one, I think of her. It would be nice to have that feeling more often.

    I love to bake when I have a crowd of people to enjoy what I bake, but sometimes I do not have the right tools or bake ware to get the job done right. It would be nice to have a snack set when needed.

    Twinkies is an American classic and they can be included in my Christmas cookie trays. Add red or green food coloring to the filling and bingo! Or how about Twinkies filled with frosting and sprinkles for a special birthday treat? The creativity would be endless and fun!

    I would love to win this for several reasons:
    1. This would be a fun project for me and my teenage son who is learning how to cook and is enjoying what he makes from scratch.
    2. This would be a healthier version as all my ingredients are fresh and there is no preservatives in homemade.
    3. I will save money by making our own as it is $3 per box of 12 and the new twinkles are smaller than the originals at the same price so it is a waste of money to buy them now.

    I would love to win this for a couple of reason:
    1. This would be a fun project for me and my teenage son who is learning how to cook and bake and enjoy what he makes…plus he loves Twinkies and I like both of them.
    2. I can control the type of ingredients that we are using and plus there are no preservatives in home made.
    3. The new Twinkies are smaller and still cost the same as the older version that was larger, so making our own I can save money.

    Now I think I can handle useing the oven again w/o getting cut or burned, so I want to try cooking a thing or two at a time

    I would love to win these pans because I do a lot of baking for family, friends and strangers. At Christmas I bake maybe 30 or 40 different kinds of cookies and it would be nice to switch it up and make Twinkie or Ding Dongs to put on the cookie trays. I volunteer with a local horse rescue who has many fund raisers throughout the year. At each event I bake different desserts for people attending, also they have a steak fry and bake off each September so it would be wonderful to make homemade Twinkies or Raspberry Zingers to enter. The entries are then auctioned off to raise money for the rescue.

    Winter is coming and I bake a lot. Not only heating part of my home by baking the kids get a special treat. I loved “Ho Ho” and “Twinkies” when I was younger and still get that craving for one every so often.     I think it would be fun to try making my own snack cakes and they would be fresher than anything you can buy in the store. After the snack cake mix was used up I’d try my hand at formulating my own with fewer carbs (better for my blood sugar) and guaranteed no lactose (for less tummy trouble).
