The recipe begins with an easy Asian marinade for the steak that later doubles as a salad dressing for the napa cabbage and cucumber. I really enjoyed the bit of heat from the red pepper flakes! The flavor infused into the flank steak and added a little kick to the salad.
This flank steak can be prepared outside on the grill or indoors using your broiler. I hadn’t used the broiler on my new KitchenAid range, so this winning recipe was a great opportunity to give it a spin!
I started by putting down non-stick foil on a baking sheet. After placing the steak on the foil, I folded up the sides a bit to catch any drippings. Then I broiled the steak about 4 inches from the flame and after 8 minutes it was a perfect medium-rare. This preparation couldn’t be easier and the clean-up was a snap!
While the steak was under the broiler I made the salad. Besides the marinating time, this really is a 10 minute meal!
