Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies
You really can’t be a chocolate chip cookie…and in my book, the bigger the better! Not only the size of the cookie (of course) but also the size of the chocolate chips. That’s why I decided to make a batch of jumbo cookies with extra-large chocolate chunks!
Keep reading for the recipe!
I have always just purchased my chocolate chips from the grocery store baking aisle, but recently I was browsing the See’s Candy Store at my local mall here in LA. See’s was founded in California way back in 1921 and has been located here ever since. Whenever I want to give someone a local treat, See’s is always at the top of my list.
For some reason, I had never noticed before, that See’s not only makes great chocolate truffles and famous peanut brittle, but they also carry their own line of Chocolate Chips! Of course, I had to give them a try…
The bag was overflowing with large size semi-sweet chocolate chips and there was a classic cookie recipe on the back. I made a few tweaks to the recipe and gave it a try. The results were spectacular and I will certainly be buying these bags in the future! If you don’t live near a See’s Candy Store, you can find them online here.
See’s Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 package (16 ounces) See’s Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Combine flour, salt and baking soda, mix well and set aside. Cream butter and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Scoop 1/4 cup of cookie dough and roll into balls. Press down slightly. Bake at 375 degrees F for 9-11 minutes. Makes about 25 jumbo cookies.
Adapted from the recipe on the bag of See’s Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips. I used the entire bag of chips, instead of just 2 cups, and omitted the 1 cup of chopped walnuts. I also made the cookies larger to accommodate the size of the chips!
