Making your own spiced wine mix is not only easy, you probably have many of the ingredients in your pantry. These spices are used in so many recipes throughout the holiday season.
Simply combine all the ingredients for the Spiced Wine Mix, and store in a decorative jar for the holidays. Make sure to include instructions for a single serving as well as for a full punch bowl for holiday parties.
This makes a great hostess gift! Now you can show up with more than just a bottle of wine, but something thoughtful and homemade as well.
Spiced Wine Mix
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Dry red wine
Cinnamon sticks
Place dry ingredients except cinnamon sticks in jar with tight fitting lid; cover and shake. Store in covered container at room temperature no longer than 3 months.
For single serving; Mix 2 teaspoons of the wine mix with 1/2 cup water; heat in small saucepan to boiling. Add 1 cup dry red wine; heat until hot but not boiling.
For 12 servings: Mix 1 cup of the wine mix with 1 quart water; heat in large saucepan to boiling. Add 2 quarts dry red wine; heat until hot but not boiling.
Serve with cinnamon sticks.
