Our winner, Jasmin Baron says, “I found myself staring down a bag of cole slaw mix that had been sitting in the fridge for a while. I’m constantly experimenting and one of my favorite things to do is to take something familiar and give it just a bit of a twist or unexpected variation, usually by bringing in some kind of ethnic flavor. I’m half Filipino so usually have a lot of Asian ingredients in the pantry, and oftentimes when I’m messing around in the kitchen, the result is an Asian twist on an old standard. I was going for a sort of Vietnamese vibe with the slaw and the mint, cilantro, sesame, sriracha, lime combination has worked great in other dishes before. This slaw ended up going really well with a grilled steak — my hubby especially enjoyed it!”
