I love to cook! My cooking has improved and my husband proved it the other night. I love cooking for him but I look up recipes to cook and can’t take my computer in the kitchen because it’s too big. If I were to have an iPad then I could set it off to the side to read my recipes on and cook for him. I’m very proud of how well my cooking has become and want to learn more about different dishes as well.

My future daughter in law who is learning to cook and often uses my kitchen uses her iPad and I am impressed as to the recipes she finds (she is vegetarian and my son is not). Of course my computer is in another room so I end up having to write it down and coming back into the kitchen. Convenience I say!

Having retired recently, I am fortunate to be able to spend much of my time at a rental small cottage on the Chesapeake Bay. There is very little space for anything extra which makes it difficult to store cookbooks in the kitchen. Having an iPad would be so helpful when looking for and storing new recipes that are appropriate for the beach, especially during the nicer months when there are a lot of visitors among the various cottages and different “potlucks” are in order. I also like to prepare healthy snacks for my grandchildren but often am at a loss for creativity. Easier access to the Internet and/or having access to easily stored recipes will make these tasks easier. Thank you for your consideration.

I do alot of recipe research and alot of times it is while i am cooking – i always have to run over to the table where my computer is to make notes/research…if i had an ipad, it would be right there next to me for instant access!! I could also take it with me everywhere so when recipe inspirations hit, i can make notes on the spot instead of having to write down on paper (which often get lost!)!!! – plus – i really really really want one!! ;-)

    Pam Treadwell says:

I love cooking, and I would use an iPad to create a digital cookbook, with pictures, of my personal recipes using the My Recipe Book app. As my creations are cooking or baking, I would sit at my table with my iPad and a cup of coffee and catch up on reading or maybe even grab a movie or do a little shopping. The possibilities are endless.

After such a relaxing experience, I would set the stage for a romantic dinner with my husband by tuning my iPad to my jazz station on Pandora, dimming the lights and unwinding with good food, wine, music, and conversation.

After my husband has been wined and dined, I would resume my spot at the table with my iPad and read interesting news articles to him as he does the dishes!

Apple iPad, assisting in the kitchen in more ways than one!

    Melissa Vogel says:

I would love to win the ipad. Three years ago my husband and I started fertility treatments and with those I started putting weight on. We were successful with shots and Sept. 1, 2010 we welcomed our first child, our daughter Sydney into the world! Our daughter arrived to us 14 weeks early and spent the first 92 days of her life in the NICU and those days were difficult for me. The last two years have been difficult with her being early, having a complication after she came home which led to me making the decision to become a stay-at-home mom to take care of her. She is doing good and we would like to have another but however I have not lost my pregnancy weight nor the weight that I gained before I got pregnant. I am on the start to losing so we can go through fertility treatments again and the ipad would come in so handy for me to find healthy dishes for me to lose weight. I can also use to find and create fun and interesting meals and snacks for my daughter. I love to cook and have so many printed recipes that my counter is becoming cluttered with recipes and just store my recipes on the ipad and have them available at home or on the go when we go visit my parents.

I would use an ipad for looking up new recipes. I could make the shopping list on the ipad or just even open up the recipe while I am at the store to make sure I have all the ingredients.

Find a clear/clean space on the counter and follow right from the ipad – that beats printing out yet another recipe (to lose) or even having to clear a much larger space on the counter for a laptop.

  • 358
    cathy robinson says:

An IPad would make life a lot easier. Instead of long lists for the grocery store, I would have the recipe’s ingredients in my hands (save a tree!!!). No more printing out copies of recipes because I lost one at the store or it got messed up while cooking. We would also have all info right in kitchen, instead of running from the computer desk to the kitchen and back again.

I have to be away from my home and my desktop computer frequently in order to take care of my 94 year old mother and I use this website daily, as well as other cooking websites, to make meals for my family which I also freeze and take to my mother. I’m leaving again tomorrow because she’s fallen and broken her wrist and will be there for an exended length of time and she does not have a computer, although there is wi-fi available at her complex. I would be able to use this to cook nutritious meals for her, as well as my family and keep up with them in emails. I used my old computer to download recipes, organize them in folders and save under “recipes”. Then I go thru and pick which recipes I want to make for dinner. Then I pull the recipe up and a blank page and copy the ingredients for each recipe onto the blank page which is the week grocery list. I go thru my refrig and cuboards, pantry, etc and delete anything I already have and add any extras like milk, the edit and print my final grocery list. Saves ink, time and paper not to copy all recipes etc…very nice!

I Love to Cook … But even when i go to the store to buy ingredients, invariably I forget SOMETHING. The I-Pad 1 … LOL … would take up FAR less room then my already 50 + cookbooks,, it also has the advantage of being PORTABLE. So if I’m at the store, and I want to be sure I have all the spices, all I need do is Check the i-pad. In addition, I’m one those ‘this is what I have in the pantry & fridge, what can i make’ cooks. The i-pad would give me a chance to see some creative ideas for day-to-day ingredients! But most of all, the reason i would like an I-pad, is simply because … it’s an I-Pad!!

if i were lucky to get one, i would use it in the kitchen and be able to find any recipe that i have collected . right now i have printed out hundreds of wonderful recipes and have tried out many of them but lose them in the box i keep them in . this would organize my poor system of keeping the best ones to use over again .. i was married for 51 yrs to a wonderful husband , he died 5 yrs ago .. we have 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 and 1/2 great grandchildren ..i recently got married again to another wonderful man and its fun fixing him new recipe’s that he has never tried .. he had a very boring diet until we got together ..i try everything that sounds good and love cooking to hear his compliments .. my first husband served in world war 2 and was awarded many medals for his service , my new husband was in the korean war and also has medals for service to our country.. my first husband was 86 when he died 5 yrs ago ..i am 73 and my new guy is 76 so we are both senior citizens starting over a new marriage and it would be nice to have an easy way to keep and use recipes ..with out having to look at computer in another room and printing them out and then losing them in the pile of my stash in the boxes i keep them in .. i am not organized very well ..so its hard to find what i want .. i would very much appreciate winning one .our social security checks do not go very far and we cannot afford to purchase a lot of the new conveniences and the modern things our kids have ..thanks for reading all of this ..

Our family’s nutritional needs have become a challenge. My husband is a diabetic and Grandma, who has lived with us for many years, no longer tolerates food like she once did. I have 5 lovely children, the last two of which are partially disabled. Unfortunately, along with a number of “osteo” related deficiencies, they also have food allergies. They would eat absolutely anything I put in front of them, but they simply cannot! I would use the IPad to find recipes, modify ingredients where necessary and nutritional values and then I would store them forever! In time I would have a nice selection of recipes to choose from broadening the selection while still managing everyone’s needs. This would bring joy to the family and simplify my life. If I had an IPad, I could find new recipes, how to serve them so they are eye appealing and the nutrition facts. I could get ideas for sides to serve. I could find out what seasonal food is available in my area and what is on sale. I could find ideas for my vegan friends. When I have a recipe with an ingredient that I am not familiar with, I could google it. When I get a recipe that has metric measures, I can get the other on the IPad. I have a married son and a married daughter who call often asking for a recipe, instead of taking so long on the phone, I could email it to them. I could have recipes on the IPad instead of cards and handwritten notes stuffed in a box.
