I was lucky enough to attend the launch for this cookbook hosted by the Four Seasons Hualalai in Hawaii this October. Author Lucy Lean, chef Ludo Lefebvre and Evan Klieman hosted dinners, events, and cooking classes throughout the blissful weekend.

It’s my really good Fried Chicken that starts out in a pan and ends up in the oven for a good crispy crust.

Homemade mac and cheese, extra cheese! Or, my veggie lasagna, snow is on the way and they both sound delicious and warming at the moment. And now I’m hungry!
My favorite comfort food would have to be the oyster dressing my father would make for holidays. Big whole Louisiana oysters,ground beef and pork with bell peppers,green onion and lots of garlic! It’s the only dish I look forward to at holidays. The fried turkey is pretty yummy too.

THEN COMING HOME AND PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER. THE SMELL OF THE HOME MADE MARINARA SAUCE IS SO MOUTH WATERING.AFTER IT IS ALL PUT TOGETHER AND DOING ITS THING IN THE OVEN THE SMELL OF THIS IS SO HEAVENLY, AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO HAVE HOME MADE GARLIC BREAD TO GO WITH THIS.WHAT A GREAT COMFORT FOOD THIS IS.

My favorite comfort food would either be grilled cheese and tomato soup or my mom’s baked Mac and cheese. I’ve tried to duplicate it but it has never tasted quite as good as my mom’s!
Believe it or not, when I’m feeling sick comfort food is pepperoni pizza. No idea why. Barring that my mom’s lasagna works.
Sausage gravy and biscuits. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever, it’s always comforting and should be eaten while wearing pajamas.

I have been trying to think of a favorite comfort food but I like so many things…fruits, fresh veggies and meats, nuts…I guess you could say I like them all….but I will pick a cheeseburger with a toasted bun and some onions…along with some cut up potatoes (french frys) baked in the oven.
Chicken pot pie is so easy and yummy! A close second would be chicken and dumplings.:)

When ever I need comforting, my wife fries me some good ole fried chicken. Along with mashed potatoes and cheese, homemade biscuits,pinto beans, and my favorite, chocolate thin layer cake!

I think my favorite comfort food would be tomato juice (made with water) and a grilled cheese sandwich. It is good anytime of the year and just makes me feel so good.
I actually have two favorite comfort foods and they are both my grandmother’s recipes. The first is homemade baked macaroni and cheese. My granny’s cheese sauce is so simple, but oh so good. The second is something I make in the summer, creamed peas and potatoes. The freshest vegetables are the best, and again, my granny’s white sauce makes these over the top. Granny can no longer cook, but every time I make these items it takes me back to my childhood.

My favorite comfort food is Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. It comforts when it is cold outside, when you have a cold and when you are just palin hungry! My son-in-law even calls me up for help on making it whenever my daughter gets sick.

I love cheesecake and experimenting with new ways to make it – and of course eating it! I was inspired by Haitian Rum after a mission trip to Haiti and came up with an excellent recipe….experimenting is a joy!

Dressing with lots of onions, celery and water chestnuts, and giblets smothered with gravy is the comfort food I yearn for at Christmas or Thanksgiving, or any other time for that matter.
A can of both red/black lentils, garbanzo’s,black/red beans,1 cup rice, 1 med onion,2 cups chicken broth, 3 cups water, curry spice as you like. 4 organic chicken thighs(skin free). I chop both bone ends off. This opens marrow and no cartilage. I cheat and cook equaling 1 hour either stove top or microwave 1/2 the ingredients, all of the onion and chicken. Then add rest into heated crock pot for another hour.

I love making pinwheel candy this time of the year. Some call it potato candy but mom’s recipe didn’t have that ingredient in it. She always made it for people during the holidays. She passed away a couple of years ago @ 97yrs old. I keep the tradition going for her.

My father’s sourdough pancakes. He started making sourdough breads & pancakes in the 60′s and would prepare dollar-sized sd pancakes on Christmas morning. Daddy died a few years ago but I still have starter from the original batch and make bread every week or so. It is very comforting to remember him every time I mix up a batch.

Chicken & dumplings, hands down. The warm, thick broth, the tender chicken, the carrots, celery & green peas. Best of all the thick, fluffy, drop dumplings. A bowl of chicken & dumplings and a cozy corner of the sofa and a soft chenille throw make even the worst days better.

A big comfy bowl of Grave yard stew my grandmother would give this to me when I was little and had an upset tummy, buttered toast broken into tiny pieces into a bowl of hot milk with pepper it always cured my tummy ache.

The most comforting of foods for me has to be my grandma’s cream of chicken rice soup, with its bits of parsley and “chicken-y” aroma! Her baking powder biscuits are a must with it.
