TOP 10 DEEP FRIED FOODS

Earlier this week I attended the legendary Iowa State Fair. Let me tell you, it was a big vat of deep fried fun! Here is my top ten list of the greatest deep fried foods at the fair. Check out the greasy goodness and leave a comment telling us which ones you would dare to try!

10. Red Velvet Funnel Cake – The classic fair favorite is taken to a new level! The red funnel cake is topped with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of cream cheese frosting.

9. Deep Fried Cheese Curds – This Wisconsin favorite gets the state fair treatment in Iowa.

8. Deep Fried Twinkies – Cake and creme filled goodness is battered and fried to perfection.

7. Deep Fried Dill Pickles – What a great way to eat your veggies! See, not everything is unhealthy at the fair…

6. Deep fried ice cream - It can be done! A ball of ice cream is frozen solid, coated in a crunchy shell and deep fried. Great way to cool off at the fair!

1. Deep Fried Butter – Yep…you heard me right. Deep. Fried. Butter. This was all the rage at the Iowa State Fair this year, so I simply had to try it. (For the record, I only had one bite and even that little nibble I ended up regretting later…yikes.)
