Better Recipes $500 Recipe Contest

The following promotion is intended for viewing in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia only (excluding Puerto Rico ) and shall only be construed and evaluated according to United States law. Do not proceed in this site if you are not a legal resident of, and located in the United States (excluding Puerto Rico ), at the time of entry.

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
To enter, complete the registration form at http://recipes.betterrecipes.com/betterrecipes/member
/uploadRecipe.jhtml and click on the "Enter Your Recipe" link. If you are not already a registered member of BHG.com, you will be asked to register. There is no cost to register or enter. Following registration, you will be asked to specify one of the offered Contest categories into which you are submitting your recipe. Complete your entry by uploading the recipe from your computer. Recipes must be submitted into only one of the offered categories and be original, unpublished and may not have previously won any award or prize. Multiple recipes may be entered so long as each one is entirely unique and complies with all other terms hereof. Contest begins February 1, 2007 and ends February 28, 2007 ("Contest Period"). Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., CT., on February 28, 2007. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to assign their intellectual property rights to Sponsor and permit Sponsor to use the entries in any media, including the Internet, for commercial, promotional or any other purpose whatsoever. Entrants who do not agree to this use should not enter this Contest. All recipes submitted will be posted on betterrecipes.com for viewing.

2. Legal residents of the 50 United States, including District of Columbia, (excluding Puerto Rico), 21 years of age or older at time of entry are eligible to enter, except employees of Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA ("Sponsor"), its agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and members of their immediate families or persons residing in the same household.

3. On or about March 23, 2007 all eligible entries received in each category will be read in a first round of judging by a professional recipe consultant based equally on: the written recipes' creativity, practicality, and category-adherence to select five (5) recipes ranked 1-5 in each Contest category ("Category Finalist"). Each recipe chosen and ranked #1 as a Category Finalist shall then be prepared and judged on taste (40%), creative appeal of prepared dish (20%), ease of preparation and practicality of preparation (20%), and adherence to category (20%). If the #1 ranked recipe scores 95-100%, it will be deemed the grand prize winner per Contest category to receive the Grand Prize. If the recipe fails to meet or surpass the 95% score, the #2 Category Finalist recipe will be prepared and judged as described above and this process will continue until a Grand Prize winner is determined. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects. Potential grand prize winners will be notified by phone, mail and/or e-mail. All judged entries shall be posted on www.betterrecipes.com with a one to five-star rating. The grand prize winner in each Contest category shall additionally be distinguished by a note, ribbon graphic or other designation selected by Sponsor to indicate that it earned the category's grand prize.

4. Grand Prize: Each category's grand prize winner will receive $500 cash. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules; winner may be subject to other verification and eligibility requirements. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if potential winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide require affidavit, is found to have violated Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. Entrants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this contest and acceptance, possession and use of prize.

5. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, illegible or lost entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes to eligible, non-suspect, entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry devices or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry.

6. Except where prohibited by law: (i) entry constitutes permission for Sponsor to use Category Finalists and grand prize winners' recipe, entry, name, hometown, likeness, photograph, voice and statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes in any media, including the Internet, for any purpose whatsoever on behalf of Sponsor without compensation; (ii) potential grand prize winners will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Ownership and Release of Liability, Copyright Assignment and Publicity Release within 10 days of notification or the entry with the next highest score will become the alternate winner. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. By participating and winning a prize, winners release Sponsor, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the contest.
